Author Topic: hacked by port forwarding?  (Read 5153 times)

btw im only ten im not an adult
You did NOT want to tell them that.

You won't get hacked if you forward ports. I guarantee this 100%.

Telling people you are younger then 12 = bad

Oh crap. I was smart enough at your age to know for myself that port forwarding can't "hack" you, and could just tell my parents without asking on the forums... and I didn't even know how to port forward at the time.

In the tutorial it says do it when your parents arent home. Thats the same as not telling them. Thats like me saying "Dad im gonna drink your beer when you leave"

a computer is only as clean and safe as the user using it. regardless of anti virus programs and firewalls, a dumb ass will still forget himself and the comp up.
on that note; a car cant kill you if you lock it and throw away the keys. airbags wont help much when you bluntly drive off a cliff.

isn't port 80 open on nearly every web server? if it was really that easy to just "hack away" then there wouldn't even be an internet
you would need alot more exploit with then just a port number.

an exploit like... a dipstuff kid that clicks research adds and fills the comp with all them fun viruses
firewalls, vista defender, anti virus programs don't work when your always clicking the "yes" button to bypass them

So if I have aids, my comp will has aids too :(

My dad was worried too about this when I first wanted to host. I've opened tons of ports (for things other than blockland) so I probably have at least 1000 ports open and I haven't been hacked. The only reason you should care is if you're family earns millions per year or something.

You should just forward ports 0-9999
Then you can host every game XD

My mom once called me to fix her computer.

The screen wasn't on. I wish I was joking.

Heh, my Father is computer savy, it's his job, my mom ehhh not so much.
But like it took my grandfather less then a day to figure out how to set up his computer and an email account, I was expecting him to phone us, good ol' gramps  :cookieMonster:

You are more at risk of getting something bad by surfing the web then forwarding ports for blockland.

I has a copycat :o
You have more of a chance of getting a virus or being hacked with everyday internet surfing.
