Try another monitor.

If it continues to happen then its your system.

Yeah, its a safeguard for the screen. The monitor is still powered up but the actual screen is off, so the image wont get burned into the screen.

After the screen cools a bit, everything comes back on. What is the make/ model of your monitor?

theres probably a manufacturer's sticker on the back with that info.

Go through the menus built into your monitor. Post anything that you are unfamiliar with. We might be able to help you from there.

If your monitor is a plasma, then it's no wonder why it's doing that.

It does that to prevent the burn-in the image will do if it stays similar for a long time.

It happens when I bump my desk or something, never at other times.

try a different cable if you're useing VGA try DVI if you can and vise versa. or try a different cable of the same type

I've tried all the cables I have. And I've bought different cables even.
