How come my avatar won't animate?

my avatar is supposed to be an animated gif. I saved to my computer then when I put it as my avatar it won't animate. Is there anything I did wrong?

It needs to be 75x75 pixels or smaller.  If it is larger than that, the server will resize the image but animation is lost in the process.
