Author Topic: Parkour in Blockland  (Read 17641 times)

Hello, as an interesting idea for a blockland mod, I am going to be working on scripts and maps and builds to help bring Parkour into blockland. I will need;

5-testers
2-mappers
5-builders
2-eventers
3-scripters
1-compiler

This mod will;

1.Create a more realistic gravity in blockland
2.Allow you to use your hands for grabbing onto things and swinging e.g.
3.Allow you to flip, and rotate your body in ways that aren't included in the standard game.

Explanations of what the mod will include;

The gravity- The gravity in blockland currently is extremely unrealistic, your player can jump 3-4 times his height and not get hurt at all, I will change that and your player will not be able to do that anymore.

Hand usage- Your hands aren't being used for anything but show currently, I will make them useful for grabbing ledges and poles to swing.

Flips and body rotations- Your body cannot flip on a jump unless you're in a vehicle, this mod will make it possible to flip off of ledges and you will actually need to land them and not always land on your feet. As for rotations, you will be able to grab onto a pole and if you have enough velocity, your player will swing around the pole and then you can release.

To join this team you will have to present me with some of your work and prove that it works. You can either PM it to me or if you're applying for mapping, just post screen shots here. Testing positions will be available to all members of the team, and I will give out the mod to people that I trust. For eventing positions, you will have to record some events you have made and post a video here or on youtube.

Thanks, and hope to see you on the team :D.

The team:

Beachbum790- Head scripter and Compiler.
NickTheSushi- Head Builder and Tester

Positions currently open now:

5-testers
2-mappers
4-builders
2-eventers
2-scripters
0-compiler

Bolded means the count has been affected.

This sounds absurd and your plans for using vehicles to do flips are even more insane. I think people who actually like Parkour would benefit more from spending their time practising in real life.

1.You can't.
2.Maybe but it'll look stuff.
3.You can't rotate the player on the X or Y axes.

The gravity would be possible. Since on the map "The Planets" your player has less gravity which allows them to jump higher. There has to be a way to make them jump lower.

The hands are defiantly possible.

And, as for flips, you could make it so that your minifig mounts an invisible/mini vehicle.

So by "more realistic gravity" you mean lower jumpforce and increase impact damage sensitivity?

The hands would be terrible, you'd have to do some glitchy constant loop to have the hands pull the player onto the ledge they jump onto or something then work in some way for that to involve skill.

The gravity, Yes.

Hmm. That's true as to the hands. I'll figure something out. Maybe just ledges with events? It has to be possible in some way.

I did this by making a playertype and giving people grappling hooks.

Makes sense, but would the grapple hook onto the brick that their hands hit? Or would they have to select the brick first?

hmmm i am sort of working on this but with just events and bricks,

but I guess I could help with the building, esting, and eventing if it is basic :D

I will need builders and testers. I cannot do any of the testing myself. I have no key. yet...

Unforunatly eph's concerns are pretty valid. I'm pretty sure I've seen other people trying to use vehicles to add more realistic 'physics' to the player and no one has done it so far. There probably is something you can do though if you get creative. The main concern I see with a physical vehicle is that they can be very hard to accurately control through code.

Still gotta say, good luck, I'm sure theres something you can do with Parkour.

You know my insanity :3

I'll join for tester and eventer. Make video of some events later...just how good should the events be? What do you want approximately?

I support this, I think it'll be cool.

And, as for flips, you could make it so that your minifig mounts an invisible/mini vehicle.

Or just use a tumble.
People have made flips before with the tumble event.
