When I try to access Wikipedia or any Wikimedia-based site (e.g. Wikimedia Commons) or any of their pages, they seem to load extremely slowly followed by loading with no background or images. I have tried changing my DNS server (to OpenDNS as well as the BT default one from my ISP) and it makes no difference.

This only affects Wikipedia and that sort of website, I can use every other website fine with no problems.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before? I use the website very often, so it's causing a lot of problems.

This has happened to me on occasion on other sites. Never experienced it on Google Chrome though.

Some sites allow you to make the pages text only via an option.

Firefox:
View -> Pagestyle -> Basic Page Style

Everything seems to be working again today. Weird.

It wasn't an issue with the page displaying, this only happened with Wikimedia sites. The Firefox page style affects every website.

That happens when I go to Wiki sometimes also. I just refresh and it is fine.

Usually because, for some stupid reason, all the adverts get the priority in loading over the actual page you want to see.
