Author Topic: Trojan. Help? (Read 5397 times)

So I was attempting to download a file, and my security "AVG Free" sent me a warning to about like 3 or 4 Trojans. Three of them are in the vault right now. I think instead of pressing Send to Vault on one of them I pressed Heal, which shouldnt be a problem. Anyway, my internet doesnt work. Every time I open it, it closes immediatley.

Anyone know what I can do to fix the problem?

Happened to me before.
Dodgy download? It took me days to search the computer by hand for dodgy files and delete them.

That is what I had to do.
Usually look for 'empty' folders in Program Files. They have a strange name, appear empty but actually have hidden files, even if you have 'Show hidden files and folders' on.
There is sometimes a weird-named .exe in them, too.

That's just stupid.

What internet browser are you using?
Try any others and see if they work. Most usually target Internet Explorer.

And also, never use Internet Explorer, Diargon. The security on it sucks. Use Mozilla Firefox.

Im using internet explorer.
Yeah I actually like mozilla.

Anyway im now on my computer.
YAY

I scanned the computer and the threats were removed.
Everything seems fine.

Except now i have an icon in my taskbar, the red shield, saying that I have security problem.
I dont feel like clicking it.
Scared of what it can do.

If it's blinking, then it's definitely fake.

If you are running XP and the X in the red shield is bigger than normal (Vista Red Shield) then it's a fake too and vice versa.

Yeah the X is actually pretty big.
I dont understand.
The files were deleted.
Intenet works
So why am I still getting fake alerts.
Obviously I wont click them but wtf should I do about those now.
