I didn't have any say.

The two people who actually knew about computers picked the components out.

I'm pretty much happy with it so long as it can run Source smoothly.

Well, I'll give your relatives credit for picking a decent DVD drive and not settling for a prebuilt. The charity ends there however.

All the other components appear to be the cheapest possible parts available with preference given to off-brands and minimal configurations.

I assume they purchased and OS and PSU correct?

You had better not be planning on using that PSU included with the case, I'd hate to have to kick your ass. >:(

Judging by the build they either...

A) Are cheap bastards
B) Hate you
or
C) Don't know stuff about computers.
