Author Topic: I'm get....got a new computer.  (Read 6812 times)

my ATI X600 runs l4d decently, any buyers?

That mobo doesn't even have a PCI Express 2.0 slot. That doesn't mean that there aren't any decent cards for it.
Don't expect to run any newer graphics cards at full potential. Oh dear - no Crysis.
Seriously, just stand up for yourself and tell them, rather then simply accepting every little thing they throw at you. It's in the mail, and I'm not going to be an starfish and object to what they all got me. Judging by the other stuff, I wouldn't be surprised if their expecting you to run off of onboard 6100, and really, what are you going to run on that? I'm using a 6100 right now in my current computer. I can run Source and just about everything I have except for Prostreet. I have about $50 to spend on a new card; it won't be an epic one, but it'll be a lot better. You just want to run Source smoothly, you say? My 6200 can barely handle L4D. My 6100 can run almost all of them, I'm assuming L4D would run slow, which could be a problem when they update the other Source games to run on the same engine. If you're under a budget, tell us the budget, there are plenty of people here that will help you. Okay, once more, since nobody seems to be reading my posts. If it was my loving decision, they would have given me a budget and I would have came here for help. The only thing I can really do at this point is plan to buy a new video card with the 50 bucks I have.

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards and forwards compatible with PCI-E.

So hypothetically, this GPU would be compatible with this motherboard?

Ok here, Its christmas and you open up your gifts, And all you get is a nintendo 64 game, Are you gonna stand up and say bullstuff, Or gonna not say anything so your parents think your happy?

Don't be so selfish. Your parents got you a gift and N64 is kickass. So are you going to be a whiny brat and claim that they're bad parents because they got you a bad gift?

...

The motherboard has a PCIe x16 slot. That will work fine. None but the highest range cards use anywhere near to that amount of bandwidth, and certainly any card he buys with his meager budget will pose no problem.

The only real problem with the motherboard (aside from the AMD socket ba-dum-tish) is that is has an integrated Nvidia graphics chipset. It can and should be disabled in the BIOS when you install the dedicated GPU, but some issues can occur if it is not properly dealt with.

Could you help me out with this later on?

CPU, fan, DVD drive, RAM, and motherboard came in today. :D

Good job.
Don't try putting it together when you don't have all the parts, common sense.

Also, do it on a day you're free. Emptying my old rig of all the old stuffty stuff took about at least an hour because I was looking for a screwdriver, and then when I was first turning it on to reformat I encountered a stuffboat of errors.

Keep your old hardware handy for whatever reason.

Oh, it's an entirely new computer.

Motherboard, case, etc...

Ah. Still, make sure you have the proper equipment handy whenever.
Screwdrivers in this case, and you may need extra light.

Yeah, I'm planning on building it on the (non-static) safety of kitchen tile.

Yeah, the whole thing could explode in a large fireball if you have a small static discharge. It's like a time bomb waiting to go off.
