See? Video games teach kids. He could have crashed into a moving tractor trailer... he had the knowledge to swerve out of the way.

Yeah, a potential two deaths narrowly avoided by a careless mother giving her son a game he's 12 years too young for.

But she's in jail for endangering the child, not for letting him play GTA.
Just imagine that. You wake up one day there's cops in your house arresting you and telling you your 6 your old son drove your car to school and crashed.

Wow.
They should buy him Postal 2 instead, involves no driving.

This was in our newspaper like three days ago.

Yeah, but what happens when he must put up with being mugged, attacked by protesters, put upon by an obnoxious convenience store owner/terrorist and his patrons who cut before him in the "money-line", plus a marching band, a murderous toy mascot named Krotchy, the police and SWAT team, the ATF and the National Guard, a religious cult, savage butchers, psycho Taliban terrorists, and Gary Coleman, among many other things.

Wow, I really lol'd at this.  :cookieMonster:

Buying such games for an obvious minor can be considered endangerment. If you want a driving game for your kid, buy him NFS Carbon of Dirt or any number of Nascar games available. Obvious lack of discipline and intelligence on the parents part.

I'd be more pissed at the fact that he crashed the car than the fact that he drove it.

This story is quite interesting xD

What did the mother do, though? Her child got in the car himself and drove away. Its not like she said "mommys not feeling well, hun, why not you take the car and drive yourself to school....." When I was six, my parents didn't have to watch me get on the bus (partially because I had my moms butler drive me there xD). The child was the one who screwed up, was late, drove a car, could have killed people, then crashed the car. The dad, I can see, but they arrest the mom because the kid wanted his bagel and cocoa puffs........ridiculous...... ..Though a tad bit of humor thrown in there xD

She had some court order against her, and her husband usually drove the kid.

Dumb bitch gets jailed. Happens a hundred times in America.

Up until your child reaches the age of majority in whatever state you live in, you (the parent) are responsible for all of their actions. You are not only supposed to teach your kids the difference between "right" actions and "wrong" actions, but also to actively prevent them from committing crimes or inflicting injury.

By not securing her vehicle and not watching over her child, the mother was negligent towards her child and is therefore subject to arrest and to CPS officers taking away her children.

It has nothing to do with the mother letting the kid play GTA, that's just the media putting on another layer of anti-videogame spin on the story.

Pro-tip: Condemning video games sells more papers

Same as giving a movie a bad review.
