Author Topic: Freeware Game Recorder?  (Read 2913 times)

I want to record a video of Half-Life 2, but I don't know of a good video game recording software. I don't want to go out and buy Fraps (or get it any other ways). All I want is a simple and free video game recorder.

Ninja-Edit: Whoops, I just realized I posted this in Off Topic, when it should belong in games. My fault, hopefully it'll get moved.

Tried, and as you said, it hogs RAM.

Sucks.
Next!

Also, if you post any "letmegooglethatforyou" links or say to loving google it, I already did, so it's just a waste of your time.

CamStudio.
Don't know how well it will work for games. Especially in full screen.

Camstudio sucks so badly for 3d games with sound.

It does. The best I ever got with it is 20fps on Trackmania Nations on low 640x480 with the lossless codec.

Though there is Fraps 1.9D, the final freeware release of it.

Downsides are that it, of course, isn't as good as the newer ones, and that it doesn't record sound. Recording time is unlimited, though.

FRAPS, but it's not freeware.

Try WeGame

But it doesn't record sound.

Is fraps only like 10 dollars? I don't know of any free ones that work as good.
They all try to compress the video while they record (thus why they lag the game) and most of them dont give you an option to not do so.
I don't like fraps because it can't record mic + game sound at the same time....correctly. But its great for quality and frames reasons.
