Author Topic: computer of epicness  (Read 4102 times)

well if you were expecting this to be a topic about some insane computer then you are wrong. i have come to you, the computer savvy, to give me suggestions for a good computer for under $1000.
all im looking for is a harddrive (or whatever you call the big box that you put CDs in) and a keyboard/mouse.

help would be greatly appreciated

Nasty, prebuilt.

I have the Pavillion, it's an amazing computer. I can run pretty much any game except Flight Simulator X, it runs like stuff on any computer.

They forgot to mention in the FSX adds that "You need a $2,000 dollar computer in order to run this game in good quality!"

Nasty, prebuilt.

its just for starting up, my current computer is absolute stuff and i dont really know how to configure it to make it better; so im going to give myself all the time over the summer to learn.

Oh please, you sound like Otis.

I have a pre-built Inspiron 518, and it runs like a trick.

anything regarding keyboards and a mouse?

Just build one, doesn't take 3 months of learning, cheaper, no crapware, all around better.

I lol'd.

Seriously, if you don't mind getting ass-raped by overpriced, underpowered technology then by all means...buy a damn prebuilt.

On the other hand, if you'd like the performance and price of a homebuilt along with the satisfaction of knowing that you created something then build it yourself.

I can recommend parts for you, but I need to know what features you require...

Blueray player?
Just gaming?
Lots of music and pictures?
Multitasking or not?
Large case? or regular? What would you like it to look like?
Do you have a good monitor already? or want a better one?
What country are you in? is buying online OK for you?

Blueray player? nah id never use it.
Just gaming? more than that, but gaming is nice
Lots of music and pictures? its going to sort of be the family computer so its gonna have a lot of stuff on it.
Multitasking or not? lots
Large case? or regular? What would you like it to look like? uh a case that can fit it all, dont really care what it looks like cause im not gonna be looking at it all that often
Do you have a good monitor already? or want a better one? monitor is perfectly fine
What country are you in? is buying online OK for you? i live in the US and online is perfectly fine by me

careful buying prebuilt. you are literally spending twice as much for the SAME power.

you can usually trust name brands in just about any products in the world.
but when it comes to computers, you wanna make it yourself.

the noobiest thing a wannabe nerd can ask on the net:
"what brand of computer do you have?"
Bisjac: "huh? ... um.... a black one?"

edit: when it comes to building a computer, how hard is it?
like is it totally confusing or is it just plugging in the right cords and saughtering a few wires?

saughtering a few wires?

all parts pop together, and you got a power supply to slap inside wuith the cords sticking out. and plug all them parts to the power. theirs not much more you need to know

awesome, so what kinda parts should i get?

Building a computer yourself is a good way to pay extra, actually. If you have never built a computer before I would not suggest doing so unless you have changed parts on your computer yourself before and know the name of every part. But you can try.

edit: honestly I think you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you buy yourself all these parts and have no idea how to put it together. Maybe buy a barebones case, it comes with the motherboard, power supply, cpu, and sometimes a graphics card already.
