Author Topic: Ipod touch home button problem.  (Read 947 times)

I've had a problem with my Ipod Touch (first generation) recently, the home button is becoming a lot less sensitive, in that I have to press it a lot harder to get it to do home button functions (i.e. go back to springboard, open music control, etc.) I'm really hoping this isn't a hardware issue, I'm thinking it's not because it's gotten worse after my most recent sync. Help?

Restart it completely? Reformat?

I have the same problem with my iPod Nano 3rd Generation. I have to press Menu button really hard for some reason.

Unfortunately the reason I believe is most likely the sensitivity of the button becoming less and less, so yes it's probably a hardware problem.
You will have to live with it or fork money over to Apple and Steve Job's recovery fund.

Take it into Apple. I had the same problem with my old first generation, and I finally had to take it into Apple.
And if it's a first generation, restore it before you take it in, because Apple will not accept Jailbroken iPods/iPhones.

Apparently these a problem where pocket lint gets under the home button and does this effect. Take it to apple, as these things are designed never to be opened. Also, what happened to: Mac's, they just work? Just had to point that out.

No use having something you can't take apart and put back together. That's my motto. This also freaked out my mom when I dismantled my laptop :D (it still works, that's what Im using right now)

My mom freaks out over me taking apart stuff too. I have a Creative Zen V PLUS that is out of it's case, and still works. It's awesome, and I use it if something happens to my iPod Touch.

I had that, I emailed Apple inc, they gave me a driver update an button onscreen so that you don't need to press that button... So email them for the software

I'm going to go ahead and adopt the 'live with it' approach until it actually becomes a hassle to press the home button (at this point I just have to press it with purpose). If it does get cumbersome to use, how would I go about getting it to Apple seeing as how I have no Apple stores around here?
