Access computer from any internet enabled computer

I've been spending quite a bit of time away from my computer, and I was wondering is there was any way to access my computer's folder (Or even its processing power) via the internet. The computer would have to be on, of course (Unless standby mode would also work, that would be great.). Anyone know how? I hate not having my stuff else where.

You can't transfer processing power. It's to that computer and that computer only.


You can use Remote Desktop Connection, but you have to be in the same LAN or use Hamachi.
You also have to enable it in My Computer>Properties>Remote.

I meant for rendering. Which I know is completely possible, due to some guy who was in here two weeks ago doing exactly that.

Also, I'll try Hamachi later. I don't like paying fro stuff, like logmein.

Are you sure he wasn't just screen sharing? It doesn't take a lot of power to display an image.

What do you mean rendering? You mean like graphics stuff?
Its probable that this is impossible, because your viewing that computer from YOUR computer and YOUR graphics card. Since they're different (Unless they're exactly the same), it probably wouldn't work.

He sent the file over to the computer, which rendered it into a little film, and it sent itself back to us. Only all he did was click the render button (its autocad or something)

He kinda appeared out of the blue, discovered our computers were cheated out of the ram by like 10mb, played around in ubuntu, and disappeared. I have no way of contecting him. However his email was falloutsomething@gmail.com.
