Author Topic: New Blockland ID List Compiling Method  (Read 3587 times)

Unfortunately, I can't limit the characters. Maybe I can block stuff on the spreadsheet.

Duplicate submissions should be okay, that way we can see all the names that ID uses.

I'll fix the order and delete mistakes tomorrow.

The system seems to be working pretty well, I was surprised at the rate stuff got added.

It should be fairly easy to grandfather in all the old data from previous lists. I'll have to do a little more work with excel and google docs to get it working.

People hate me so much they'd rather put their hate in little comments rather than up front.

Good going, friends at large!

Lol I don't hate you. I find your shenanigans amusing most the time.

whose this "HEYMAN" friend?

A bot? Mistaking the form for a username and password entry and trying to crack someone's account? Lotto numbers maybe? I'll clear it out after this class ends.

Oh, and there's no girl or ban flags. I left them out because I personally think they're a load needless of bullstuff.
Yeah, no need for special attention flags.

It's a shame. Someone good uses their talent to make something to help us, and idiots have to go and abuse it.

This is a good idea, but in my opinion executed poorly. Having to go through and sort everything by hand almost seems more difficult and time consuming than just adding someone on the list we already have. Plus, as you stated before, idiots are going to abuse this and make stupid entries. It would be grandiose to see this actually done, but someone with know-how in Java or PHP should make a website or link off of theirs and do this right.

This isn't that hard to do. Google Forms is a really intuitive way to, well, do forms and the like. You don't have to be technically minded at all, it's almost a more useful version of the polling system we have.

Ah right. Didn't notice.
Perhaps an authentication process like the RTB forums do?

It won't be difficult to maintain the list (today's cleanup took me around 20 seconds). But I'm considering allowing people with gmail accounts to help maintain the list.

All changes made to the form and spreadsheet are logged and archived, so if someone abuses my trust it so won't be hard for me to hunt them down.

Is it possible to make a sort by name feature, so you can check for someone's ID?

I could help maintain it but I don't have a gmail account at this moment.
