Author Topic: Hey guys, I'm new  (Read 1277 times)

I have been playing Blockland demo alot now, and since I'm seeing all these awesome topics that I want to post on (maybe), I made this account. I'm going to buy Blockland for real on Saturday, Febuary 14th, 2009 (Pacific Time Zone), so I might be playing with people on that date. Also I have a question. Is the "Internet" connection on Blockland wireless? Like I have to have wireless connection to go in most servers.

Hello, congrats on buying Blockland!

When it says "Internet" when trying to start a server, it means that it will host the server on the internet, wireless or wired. LAN means Local Area Network, and will let you play with other people that are connected to the same router (In just about all cases, in the same building/house/unit as you), and play with them and them only. Single Player is absolutely offline and has no other player interaction and is the only playable server connection type in Demo. If you do have a router, then you need to port forward in order to host on the internet.

A really huge heads up guide for Blockland and the forums:
  • Port Forwarding does NOT open your computers to hackers. We get this question millions of times because kids asked their parents to do it and then the parents assume it's bad.
  • When browsing the forums, please pay attention to all section names and the rules of each section.
  • When you're posting in a topic, go to the very last page/post. If it's from two-three days ago, chances are you shouldn't post in it.
  • If you see a respected member of the community doing something (i.e. an inside joke), don't copy off them. If you do, you are jumping on their bandwagon which is similar to the real life situation of killing a joke.
  • There ARE girls here, but e-dating is not advised as it never works out.
  • The forums and in-game ARE HARSH. There is swearing, explicit conversations and other such.
  • When you are posting something in Drama because someone banned you or called you some random insult, don't post about it. Drama nowadays is for big things like people that everyone hates. Nobody really cares about you being banned or kicked or whatever.
  • Please do not ask stupidly oblivious questions, like "WHEN IS v11 RELEASED?!" or "ROBLOX IS STOOPID".
  • Badspot does not cuddle and care for every single problem on Blockland. Don't post "HELP BADSPOT HOW DO I ________?" or "BADSPOT THIS PERSON WAS MEAN TO ME PLZ BAN _________!!!!!"
  • Proper grammar, spelling and knowledge of the English language is crucial here.
  • Don't steal other people's builds/Add-Ons.
  • There is this very, VERY useful modification for Blockland called Return To Blockland 2.0. This adds an in-game chat room that can be used whatever server your in and the ability to whisper to other people from other servers, and an in-game Mod Manager that allows you to browse and download whatever mods you want off of RTB2's website. You can download it here.
  • Don't start a clan, especially now. You unfortunately aren't well known enough to create a strong clan, and it's better off to just get some building skills and join one.
  • Please do not act like an idiot, obviously :P
  • ROBLOX is not something we hate. ROBLOX is a separate game apart from Blockland that features different things and such. There IS NO FIGHT. We are both equal games and we like to keep it that way. Idiots of our community spam them, idiots of their community try to spam us.
  • Old memes aren't funny and this is not 4chan.
  • It's the internet. If someone hates you don't kill yourself over it.

tl;dr: welcome, have fun, and hope you have enough balls for this place.
(tl;dr means Too Long;Didn't Read. It's either used to sum up a long post in one sentence or used by other people to say "This post is too long and I didn't read it because I probably don't care".)

If you can't spell, get Chrome or Firefox or something with spellcheck, don't use the smileys, don't overheal spies and and don't drink the water.

And don't go in servers asking for admin.
