Author Topic: Robotics build season is over  (Read 1264 times)

I am sad. The best 4+ weeks of my life are now over. I hope next year is even close to similar. I bet it will not be, all our core fun guys are gone, and the only people left are workaholics.

It got my off my lazy video game playing bum into building the best piece of hardware I ever made. It might not be the most powerful, or the biggest, but the best. Its got roof jumping, messed up driving, learning, some of the bet food I've ever had, random guys become very good friends, Burned flesh, cut hands, the best songs I've ever heard, messing up the teachers next door with insainly loud music, staying up all night to work on our robot, Massive amounts of picture taking, breaking every school rule in existence, random baseball playing in the quad, the best teacher I've ever met (Whom I've changed my entire schedule so I can get him the next three years), working with the smartest guys I've ever met, massive sacrifice of Cameron, without the doubt the nicest and greatest guy I've ever met, completely loving up the school computers, loving around in the school after hours, Discovered Jizz in my pants, Awesome Town, I'm on a boat, Through the fire and flames, and discovery of how high school should be.

I feel like crying. I hope anything can compare to these last few weeks.

I'm a changed man. I hope I'll be more open to stuff and not always striving to be friends with everyone; even people that I know I'll only know for ten minutes.

Aw man, that HAS to suck :c

to be honest, I dont get what you are saying. Are you talking about your friends leaving or something?

D:
On the bright side, I've gotten a good picture of my unhappy. I'm usually happy or emotionless.

Same here. I'm looking to see if there are any other club I can join that might compare to this.

Google "FIRST Robotics"

Our robotics last about half a school year. We do various things with the bots each year. I am the lead programmer in my team this year. So far everything is working out great. I just got the program to be working near perfectly but the C++ derivative hates If-Else so I got to use If-If as a sub.

Our system is more local based as we only work within a few school districts though. So far we are first place.

What are you in? this doesn't sound like FIRST at all.

I want robotics to last the entire school year. Our robotics room is going to turn into a computer lab the rest of the year.

Ybot. It is annoying to find though. If I can get a picture of my bot I would show you.

I'll dig up a picture of my epic bot later. We took tons of pictures :D

Also, any sort of lint to yBot? Can't find anything.

Last year we made ours from cardboard, duct tape and metal. With the necessary parts of course.

Ours is Lexon (Its like plastic, only its expensive and looks like glass) metal and zip strips. Lots of zip strips.
Very old picture of prototype. It now looks 100x time better
Look around pictures there. You can see some better shots. (I'm in the "assistant to the regional manger" sweater)

Damn. Our school robotics team really wanted to participate in FIRST, but the high costs involved (and the fact we had no experience) forced us to think smaller.

We participated in the Vex Robotics competition instead.

I've got a VeX robot on the desk next to me :D

My school got lucky, we got massive funding from goodrich (President's dad manages our division or something)and nypro. We also got an epic mentor/friend from X-Digital (Someone in the club's dad owns it. Epic!). Also funding from these guys: Linky! (Its the list at the top)
