Author Topic: Challenges  (Read 3615 times)

I'd like to add one:
Bad design leaving making people on the same level crowding it

I don't know how many times I've join a challenge, and the first level would be easy, if it weren't for the hoard of people all trying it, and screwing each other up.  This is especially bad without checkpoints, since when you get past it, and die on the second level, you get sent strait back and have to fight the hoard to get a turn again.

i need a server to work on my challenge (seeing as my server suddenly doesnt work at all)
i am attempting to fix this though

I'd like to add one:

loving Impossible

Does anyone understand how to create a balance between too difficult and too easy?

This.

Okay, added. How's this:
Also, remember that if you make a particularly hard level, and many people are getting stuck on it, suddenly the spawn point will become clogged with people which might actually make it impossible if it's badly designed. If you need a run-up to get past a certain part, then it turns out you can't because Blockhead4912634 is in the way and trying to jump on your head, then nobody can ever get past it unless you can co-ordinate them into dying and staying dead until each person is past e.g. never.

I think that in order to make a balanced challenge, you should have multiple paths to the next check point.
A path that you feel is more difficult could give you extra points or something, while the easier ones still allow people to progress.

That, or you can do every challenge in any order you want.

I'm gonna be making a 2Player thing laters.

What is necessary: A long hallway you can't jumpcrouch your way through when spawning. That way if someones going it'll be a line.

Then its a clusterforget to the entrance and people stopping.

But that's the fun.

Hmmm, I'm working on redoing adventure for the atari 2600.
It's ok. I use variables to prevent that door thing you talked about
(themaze isthe hardest part, w/ teleporters

I forgot who but someone made a team work challenge, it was extremely fun.  I wish I remember who made it and what server it was on.

Edit:  My challenge currently doesn't pass space's exam.   It isn't done, but I am planning on making a DM section so when you finish you get teled to the DM area.  Also you have to back track to get to doors, but I am defiantly more than welcome to help anyone who has been locked out by someone.

I kinda feel bad now that I know my challenge isn't that great :(

But at least it uses some strategy and timing.  Also has some creative parts that I've not seen done anywhere else yet.

My challenge is only ten levels from complete, and other than the things I mentioned in my other post, it's not to far from passing it. I'm OK with it though, as it's the first challenge I've made that can be done by more than one person/group of people at a time. I really should redo my 2P thing, I didn't know to much about events then, and, in one room, there's a trap door that makes at least 12 bricks fall at once, but they all have different names and the button that triggers it is clogged up with events.

Jirie I went to your airboat challenge thing and I loved it (well. I never been to a challenge before that)

Don't think of this as a "you MUST follow this or I instantly hate it" thing, though. If you make things in a good way or do them originally, then usually I'll like it or play it.

Also you have to back track to get to doors, but I am defiantly more than welcome to help anyone who has been locked out by someone.
Yeah, that's where I had the main issue. I went and opened one of the gates about three times while hearing it close on me a second later because someone else had went through before I'd even left the control room.
