GIMP is good 'nuff for most people's needs, and its free. Photoshop and Photoshop Elements may be better, but theyre so loving expensive.

Photoshop has a bunch of things that are better than GIMP. You really shouldn't be basing how 'good' the program is off of the cost.

I just got my tablet and it came with Photoshop elements 6.0 i think. Haven't used it yet, how is it?

The forget about GIMP?
You're all idiots..Well, not really, but GIMP is better than PS and PDN.
GIMP: Can do whatever PS can do. GIMP can save in over 60 different image types, and can make animated .gifs. GIMP can also do anything PDN can. Did I mention GIMP is free?
Photoshop: Expensive as hell, works fine, however, the price deducts from the usefulness. Can't save in all of the file types GIMP can.
PDN: Can't do much compared to PS and GIMP. It's free, but that's not that big of a deal considering the complexity of the program :\
-Can't make .gifs
-Can only save as a few file types
-Can handle transparency

Nevermind my post, all I really need to say is JD's wrong, that I only found 37 different file types in GIMP, a majority of which were superfluous, and that I can make animated .gifs in Photoshop.
