Author Topic: Siblings With Almost Identical Names  (Read 2700 times)

Well, I put this in Drama because it tends to annoy people.
Ever had a server up and then had two brothers, most of the time one stupider than the other, but it appears to be impossible because the smarter one's so stupid that you can't believe he managed to get on a computer?
And then, then you realize their names are one letter/number away, and get confused with each of them whenever the dumber one starts his/her friendry.
It's so hellishly annoying =\

No actually, never seen it before. You'll need some examples.

In my server there were these brothers, something relating to "lutenant" (butchered the word, I know) and then 4.. 47 and then a different number at the end. I think one was 6 and one was 7 (numbers, ages were probably 2 and 1.)

I don't think this has ever occurred to me...

So hellishly annoying indeed.

lol.
There was a group of, like, 6 people with the same ID.
There names were redstick123, bluestick123, greenstick123, rainbowstick123, blackstick123, and whitestick123

Ouch =\
Yeah, but I never got why there names were [insert color here]stick123
like, erm, what?

Yeah, that is not possible. If you are on an internet game and you have the same ID then you must have the same name. Unless they used the clan tags, then they could not be using different names. Read the FAQ for more info on what you can and can not do with ID sharing.

You can run BL more than once, and join servers, more than once. He could've changed his in game name each time and then joined.

But not at the same time. In lan, you can only have the same name while using the same ID and IP. You can only run blockland with the same ID on the same IP. So if the IP and ID is the same, the name has to follow. Same thing with IP.

Otherwize you get an auth. failure.

Actually, it's even more annoying when the have the SAME NAME and one's being an idiot, and I'm like, which one do I kick?

I remember one time on Badspot's server, two people came in using the same name/key, but neither of them auth failed for having the same key as someone else. how is that possible? last I checked, if you go into a server where someone else is using the same key, both players' authentication fails.

Not Blockland related. Belongs in Off-Topic.
