Author Topic: Statistics - The Art of Pulling Numbers Out of Your Ass  (Read 1457 times)

Been in the class for 4 or 5 weeks, boring as hell, easy as hell, annoying as hell.  I think I've found hell.  Discuss why you hate it or not or other Stats related opinions and stuff.  But really, stick with calculus unless you need to take stats.

Statistics are hell, except for converting, which is/was loving easy. That's cause converting percent decimal fractions is like, 2nd grade stuff.

Something tells me you haven't put up with stats

Did you know?
12.6% of statistics are made up on the spot!

I think I know what I'm talking about, but I doubt it. We've only dabbled in Statistics, which sucks, but whatever, from what I hear I have better things to do..like sit around at a computer on the Blockland Forums....

Actually Hazard, it's 47.9%.

have you ever taken a stats course?

I'll need a statistical status stat! :O

No, besides the dabbling in...a couple years ago. So yah, no idea what I'm talking about..

/facepalm

i am currently taking AP stats

i like it, it's a great course

it's fairly easy too

today we just had the free response portion of our 2-day test. 6 questions and nobody finished in the hour and half we had. haha.

you know how it is, though; the teacher makes the course. stuffty teacher, stuffty course

The problem is that I'm bored out of my mind for the entire 1.5 hours

I picked up a copy of USA Today since my college gives them out for free. They've got this daily poll thing they run.

Today's question was "Do you think our health care system is worse than before?" USA Today made the claim that it was with these lovely statistics: 33% worse, 30% no change, and a lovely error margin of plus or minus 3%.

I felt like throwing out the paper after I read that. :(
