It's been on my mind a lot lately but are we really alone in the universe? Are we a freak of nature that just some how we were set a perfect distance away from the sun where it's not to hot or cold? Or we one of the many other intelligent races out there that could be out there?

EDIT: One more thing i forgot to add was if there really is other intelligent life out there do we really want to communicate with it?

No, we aren't.

Think about it, the galaxy alone has billions if not trillions of stars, and those stars have solar systems. And there are more than One trillion galaxies in the universe, atleast one of those planets has to be able to support life.

Well, Earth could have been a one time deal. (Guys don't worry, I've watched enough discovery channel to know) If they found anything remotely like life on Mars then we would know the Universe is filled with it.

If we are possible, You have to think other life forms are also out there. Watch, we will find one in the near future so close to us and all the scientists and nasa will /facepalm

Im still waiting for my copy of Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy (The thing in the book, not the book itself... Well it is a book, but, nevermind.)

There are enough stars/planets out there in our infinite universe, with more being formed every second, that the likelihoods are rather high that if you searched far enough and for a long enough time, you'd eventually encounter your perfect counterpart.

But There can't be a way humanity is the only form of life out there. As far as advanced as us, that's the real question. Could be some civilization just slightly ahead of us and peekin in on us and we'd not know till we reached their level of development.

But would we want to make contact with them? For all we know they could be a hostile civilization.
