The train looks cool. But these news sets make me upset. I remember when you had to use a lot of pieces to make something cool. Now there are just a few, big, "custom" pieces that you can't use with any other sets.

examples?

Give me a minute...

But in the mean time, to explain, lego sets are having fewer and fewer pieces. While this is a good move for lego to save money in production/packaging/shipping, consumer creativity suffers a little bit. A quick example of this is Boba Fett's ship. While the second one looks more like the one from the movie, it has more curved pieces that are tougher apply to "free builds". So you end up with a bunch of pieces that you are unable to find a lot of uses for. And that kinda defeats the point of legos.

Back when there were less fancy pieces, Legos forced you into being creative.

Thank you. That's pretty much what I was trying to say.

Also, props to Nymethus for posting so many of his own lego pictures, not just ones he found online.

Stop reading my mind damnit

I love the 7144, you should send me five :x

It's so small and awesome, you can actually put it somewhere without having it covering some house you've built! Yes pieces

agreed

Let's look at why TLG does them new stuffs:

  • They need to make new stuff to make money
  • People have more Legos these days
  • Noobs think same old LEGO is boring

  • Copypasta is made to ruin every last bit of originality
