Of course it does. =)
Has debris that does not turn black and looks like it actually broke into pieces?

Can't do anything about it.

Use a texture that's the same color as the barrel, sure it'd appear brown even if the barrel is, say, green, but i believe brown wooden barrels are more common, but i can't say for sure

The barrel uses blank and black25 textures. As far as I know those (transparent ones) are the only ones that can be colored.

If i recall correctly, the vehicle and vehicle debris can be two different models, so the vehicle can use the blank texture while the debris uses a non-blank texture since there's apparently no way to color the debris via scripting

Also, the color you use for the barrel's color shift, you could probably convert it into RGB format to be used with a program like Paint.NET, Gimp, Photoshop, etc, fill a 32x32 or 64x64 canvas and use that as the debris texture

There's a problem with using textures that are not things like white, whiteCheck, gray25-75, red, black, blank, black25-75: artefacts of random colours appear.

I thought vehicle debris wasn't affected by the color shift and only the vehicle itself was?

Hm, i guess i've had it all wrong :(

Correct. The problem is if I use colored textures for the debris it's still only correct if the player decides to color the barrel with that same color. You want a purple barrel? Well tough luck, the debris is colored red.

I just think it's weird if  you punch or shoot the barrel, it'll be black or something, it makes more sense if it's blown up because the black could be that it's scorched

But i guess it is better than having a purple barrel turn red

I like it. It's strangely appealing.

pistolwhip = more painful than bullets.

ICE PISTOL :O

Looks really cool. We need some more unique eye-catching weapons.

its red so obviously it shoots fire
