I'd probably parent the transparent bit to an empty. May or may not work.
everything's parented to the animation skeleton which is parented to the level of detail empty; doing otherwise would break my animations

in the mean time, item models (which also aren't casting shadows, rad)

bump, help this poor soul
i seem to have fixed it with Ye Olde Join-To-A-New-Cube fix, will report back once i've applied the fix to everything with Pretty Pictures

nope, for some reason it only worked on the slider and trigger, and despite never touching it, the barrel has lost its shadow too

why is torque terrible

here's a .blend, if anyone can help that'd be nice

It's not really Torque, i'm more certain that it's something to do with Blender and the current DTS exporter

Anything made in Milkshape 3D has a fully opaque shadow unless a material is told to be transparent

the red dot lost it too, and the inner barrel. it has to be the texture

the trigger has the same material as the scope thing though, so it can't be the material.
i'm guessing it has to do with the scope thing being on a different layer
that'd be the only thing that makes sense

weird, i can't see any properties anywhere that might help with that

not texture related, the optic and the trigger use the same texture, and when i first recognised the issue
weird issue

any ideas?
the muzzle and trigger also have the same texture

i'm not sure how that got there but normally only the bones and empties are in a separate layer, and in the item model it's all one layer
to be sure though, i put everything together, but it made no difference

Extrude the bottom and the handle.

i got inspired somehow

did it a little different
