Aren't most rounds in bolt actions loaded from the side in, and not from sliding them in behind? Unless it's because of the scope, shouldn't the round be placed flush with the chamber?

That hand guard could just be an octagon, connecting the blade and the handle to the guard like that is a waste of polygons, especially if the guard is flat on the top and bottom

how the cartridge goes into the chamber doesn't matter so long as it's the right kind and it's facing the right way; the bolt pushes the cartridge into the breech where its neck is more or less funneled into pointing parallel with the barrel's trajectory. putting it in forward like that would just likely result in having it placed further into the breech before it's fully pushed and locked in by the bolt, which affects nothing
