those holes alone probably are 837 by the looks of it

look at the top bar for tris while in object mode. in edit mode it just shows the tris of the current mesh being edited

Which train is it? If it was that ICE looking train, I'm having a hard time believing it has over 12k tris.

There should be a workaround, though. Torque poops itself if a single mesh object has over 12k tris. You should separate it into different objects.

don't go off of seems - import the .dts yourself and check. its pointless making conjectures like this
