i'm pretty sure it's just the outlining going nuts

It's fine, it only looks like that because I ran it through photoshop to increase the cel shaded look, making it kinda weird.
Interesting. What did you do in Photoshop? Is the outline just the same model scaled up with a black material + inverted normals?

Yeah, I just made the outline more thick in photoshop

...I don't think so, at least. I don't really have any real references to go off of but opening the tank turret in Shaper, which is vague as hell as far as bone groupings and the like.

Well your mountpoint needs to be rotated 90 degrees on the x axis so the tip of the bone is facing the direction of the barrel. I don't know what the hell is going on with your barrel, the root position of it should definitely not look like that.

The person I made this for didn't like it much, does anyone else like it?

I love it
It looks like the H-L MP playermodel, Helmet.

...what is it
It's a helmet.

Looks like some sort of helmet.

Does he really need a eye display piece in front of his visor which could just as easily act as a display in itself? Seems a little redundant to me.

that'd be some MAJOR eye straining

shhh
It's obviously a scifi computer or generator box or something
It looks cool

Depends on how far a way the visor is from the face.

I'm thinking in regards to a real human scenario. Blockhead would probably suffer eyestrain if plastic little men actually had to care about such a thing.

Holy stuff, I made this thing based off a Halo helmet but damn, boiiii.

Don't worry, it's to magnify his view.

I modeled this racecar chassis for a game I play, painted a skin for it and put it in a render scene.

That is beyond cool Apex.
