In the attack on titan world the box cutter design is only used as a means of displaying how light weight the blades are, they were never meant to actually be used like box cutters.
It's mostly just a silly design cheat

that's why there's eight more, and they dont break off at each section

Then why are they designed like box cutters? I know it's supposed to show the blade is light, but you don't need to make it look like one to have it be that way.

the blades are detachable and those are more blades in the sheaths. you detach them when they dull and then switch them out for the others.
also sharpening the blades would take a large amount of time

Aah, it spins so fast. The model looks pretty cool, but I can't really tell because of how quickly it's rotating.
