Author Topic: Asus graphics card.  (Read 1347 times)

I'm thinking of getting one of these, are they good?

The only reason i'm getting this is because it's cheap, and I need a graphics card that fits into a PCI slot.

i think you mean nvidia?

evga, asus, about 20 others... they all make nvidia
you pretty much choose your video card (in this case nvidia) then pick its manufacturer (in this case asus) pick usually by price, support, and warranty differences
nvidia dont have its own factory somewhere, it has these company's make them for it.

unless asus actually has a line of its own video cards your talking about ,then im unaware.

and your asking if its any good. you would need to tell us its model

Never knew that, I just took a quick glance at it at the store, so I wouldn't know if it's Nvidia or not.

i shop nvidia/EVGA usually

but for motherboards i love asus/asus stuff

EVGA has always been my fav items. 24 hour free phone support for all hardware issues, and free lifetime warranty's

Asus is good in motherboards, EVGA is good too and in graphics cards.

I personally never have used one, so I can't tell :|

I can't help but say that I read the title as "star fish graphics card". :o

Wait, EVGA has a free lifetime warranty?

Holy stuff, my graphics card just got way nicer. I'm going to buy exclusively EVGA now, that is epic.

Also, asus seems to be an epic company; their power supply (that I have) is epic :D

Jesus H. Christ...

Anyway, there are differences in the cards from each manufacturer, but they are so small it doesn't matter to anyone besides overclocking enthusiasts. Cards from any of the good brands will suit the average consumer. Asus is good but I am loyal to EVGA. A link to what you are buying would be nice.

EPIC DOOD

My Asus came with a ATi on-board graphics card :o.

Nvidia and ATI both manufacturer the main processing units for all the GPU's sold. They sell those GPU's to OEMs along with PCB designs and licensing. So yes, Nvidia and ATI do have production facilities.

Those OEM's (EVGA, XFX, ASUS, etc) must follow a basic set of rules but have some choices they can make to differentiate their products. They can increase the amount of onboard memory, they can set higher clock speeds and even design their own custom cooling systems.

So really, the EVGA board isn't going to be vastly different from any other manufacturer, but as others have said, the real determining factor is warranty length, tech support and other features. Sometimes you see some pretty good deals like offering free games or software with purchase.
