Author Topic: Computer Virus Scanning VIRUS  (Read 2460 times)

My comp froze up, so I turned it off, then back on. When I logged onto my account, this damn program, which apparently scans every single website you've been at and says either it's a research cache or a virus, or a broken cookie, pops up. Oh--it has some random indian woman's voice saying "Computer security jeopardized" or something of the sort. After logging on twice to my account and having this error, I went onto my other account on my comp, in case mine failed (thank god) and it worked. I was like, "so then this is obviously fake," and I uninstalled the thing. Apparently it was DL'd 3/02/09, and I wasn't on my computer that day ._.
What the hell?
Edit: stuff, it de-forwarded my ports D=

Yeah, something similar happened to me. I was looking for V8 add-ons, and I found a page in which Google had highlighted my exact search (V8 Add-ons download) so I clicked on it. It was loading for a long time then a window came up:

ATTENTION: YOUR PC MAY HAVE VIRUSES! (I have a Mac)
PLEASE DOWNLOAD OUR FREE VIRUS SCANNER!

At this point, it already started downloading. When I click the (X) button a small window comes up:

                   The page at http://www.blahblahblah.com says:
                         Don't leave! Your PC is still infected with viruses!

So I had to force quit. There are tons of these things out there, be careful!

Yea, Alot of them. I was on google and then suddenly my mouse started moving by itself O_O THEN it logged on to a freaking research webstie

>:( Stupit remote control viruses. You get one from SmarterChild on MSN if i remember right

Protip: PC != Windows.
PC = Personal Computer.

You have to know where the hell you guys are going.
That's why I got AVG free. It tells me if a page is safe or not.
And so does Firefox.

I had even no viruses without any anti-virus(they do more harm than viruses anyway).
I just don't click every button which says "Click Here".

If you know what you're doing, you are safe.

And yes, FireFox keeps much nasty stuff away.

Yeah, that helps. But really, about 95% of viruses can be avoided with common sense.

So the virus logged into your router? Lies.

Also, its called safe mode with networking.  Use it.

Lol'd.
My old and crappy PC has like, 27 viruses.

My grandad had a computer and it had these anti virus thing which would pop-up as soon as you boot the computer up. every 3 days the number of "viruses" would increase by 300. and eventually it became unusable. and now we cant use his pc anymore when we go over his house :(

Re-install OS maybe?

JD If you have been on the internet as long as you say you have you would have already known of this virus.It doesnt lock the screen just dont touch the website and keep clicking back. I for one know your lying because a virus would have to have alot of script just to open one router that you may not even have.

Nope, that wasn't the virus actually. It wasn't downloaded by me with my prior knowledge of its danger. I didn't go to a website with that, I've heard of that one a lot. This one was much different, however. I forgot to mention that my PCCillin Antivirus expired a few days before it.
And no, I'm not lying. I had been hosting before the crash, then I turned it back on and tried it again and it forgeted my comp. If my ports are forwarded, then how so do you expect me not to be able to host?
I for one know you didn't read my post because you would have known it wasn't a website.
Uh, yeah, router I don't have. Sure.

Edit: Also, do me a favor and quote for me where I said I was in a website in my first post.
Edit Dos: Well, I can't find a different cause for me not being able to host on this computer which I could host on previously, before the crash. I was hosting directly before the crash. Really--Nothing else could've de-forwarded them.

My old comp had about 1400 viruses...

My old windows laptop had 1000 virusis so the mouse doesn't work, sound breaks "normal YouTube bid sounds like in played in slowmo on a normal time scale. Then it died, it would not start up. So now I'm sitting here with a mac and no virus detected. "I'm not trying to start a of and mac war, it's the truth"

Srry for the misspelled words, I'm on phone.
