Make suggestions my Laser Shotgun picture

The first two pictures of the Laser weapon set show the alien invasion beginning:

In order to fight off the alien threat, the army is developing a laser shotgun for its troops.
Where I need your help is I need an idea for what the picture is going to be. The current ones are meant to resemble something seen in a 1950's alien invasion comic book.
I can't think of what would work for the army making the laser shotgun though, so if anyone has any ideas please post them here.

Also if anyone has a more creative name than Laser Shotgun, I would greatly appreciate it. (avoid the use of the word Plasma, keep it from sounding generic, but don't make it ambiguous. IE: I don't want people complaining that they don't know what a "Larudesia" or a "LSG-14Y" are.)

Ok so I am scrapping the original images. I will make new ones later. Any suggestions for how to do those would be helpful. Maybe post some comic book pictures for me to base them off of or such.

Those backgrounds are horrible. They completely conflict with the blocks.

I know... its really hard to find images that would work... if I could get like comic panels from an actual 1950's alien invasion comic, and replicate those somehow, I would.

I'd make a big alien warzone scene, like the one in your backdrop, in BL.
Then just add resized mechs with the vehicle events add-on.

Laser Shotgun isn't a very retro-alien/human type of weapon. They focused on death-rays and new science fiction ideas at the time. As for a backdrop have a military base with some jeeps and aliens gunning them down. Or do a War of the World's type of theme.

True but the Shotgun was a major part of the original LWS and I wanted to cover all basic chasis for the set that way people could use what they wanted.

Would "Pulse Gun", or "Laser Pulse" be more fitting to your gun?  It's kinda hard to give it a name without seeing how it fires...
