Author Topic: exporting with the Blender DTS exporter (obsolete)  (Read 3193 times)

I have the DTS exporter working, I've made several models, but whenever I try to use the advanced version, it stalls up and whenever I press any of the buttons, it does nothing. Does the quick Export automatically export bones, or is that manually done?
:P

Well, firstly make sure you have Python 2.5.2 installed, but it would seem you do. The quick installer will export bones if you have them correctly parented to the detail32 empty.

I have the most recent version of Python installed, so I think it's the detail32. :P Though I MIGHT have just gotten it to work. I'll post a pic of what I'm working on if it works  :P

I got it to work :3  I opened it in Constructor to test, and it's a bit big, but that can be fixed. Same with texture glitch  :3  must have had to save it...

EDIT: here's a pic of the weapon in question:

it's nice and bloko, but it has no defined barrel  XD

...actually, it works fine, it has all the textures, but it disappears in third-person/spirit teleport. How do I fix this?
If it is about the lack of a collision mesh, what do I name it?  :P

You don't need a collision mesh for weapons.
I wasn't able to get the exporter working without python 2.5.2 which is actually an older version as it is what the latest version of blender was compiled in, but whatever.

it still disappears in first-person. :P
I have Python 2.5...  and I think that's it. I use a mac, and I can't easily find MacPython installer. Let me try this...

EDIT:

...
...also, the mount points aren't working. I'm using armatures, but I'm still kinda new to mounting  :P

It's 2.5.4  :P

I dunno what's going on, but I'll try exporting again.

Oh yeah, working on more custom stuff  :D

The mountpoint for weapons in blender is where the xyz axes meet.

Also lern2edit your posts

I realize that I should get into the habit of editing.
now, I'm trying to:

get my gun to show in third-person
fire from the front of the muzzle
get the emitter to... emit... from the front of the muzzle.

:D  I'm actually getting somewhere!

Oh yeah, custom working bullet:

it's much more accurate, and bigger than the default. Also working on custom shell :3

Very nice looking. Lets hope I can get my DTS advanced working :D

Okay, in a last-ditch effort, here's a plea. Please, anyone who has successfully exported with Blender, please tell me the list of things you do.

What I do:

Open
Model
Make materials
export once (weird glitch)
export second time (fixes glitch where you can't select anything)
add to project folder
zip contents of folder (a problem I resolved before)
test in-game

Also, it's just the gun. My custom bullet works fine, and the audio works well; just the weapon model. I added armatures for the mount and muzzle points, but those are also mysteriously not working, but I might not have been exporting them  :\

Well, thanks for helping in advance  :D
