How exactly does this work and speed up my system?

150th topic made. :D

By using Windows ReadyBoost?

By using Windows ReadyBoost?
That's obvious but how would it speed up my system?  Does it act like ram or something?

No, its kinda misleading.

It stores some files needed to boot on the flashdrive, making vista boot much faster. I used to use it, and it makes a noticeable change, its quite nice :D But I needed my flashdrive more then a faster startup.

Oh i thought it like sped up the performance of overall not just startup.

Maybe.. Or maybe it takes some kind of computerized drug that will speed it up! :o

Edit: Aw, Digmaster ruined it for me :(

Haha, yes, computer drugs.

I think my laptop is on drugs, which is why it's slow and keeps crashing >:|

Same, it turns off every now and then when I close it.

My computer lags every second, like literally, on the second.

I used that thing with my memory stick.
I didn't notice that my PC is faster in any way.

It probably just gives more page file which is mostly used when RAM is full. The thing is that 4GB of RAM won't be full very often. So, I'd say it won't speed your PC if you have good amount of RAM.

It just uses the space on your flashdrive as extra memory to perform operations...it isn't used to boot the OS (although you can boot from a flashdrive if you know what you're doing).

If you already have 2-4GB of memory it won't help. It is really only for those with really poor quantities of memory chugging along. The read/write speed of flash memory and the bandwidth offered over the Universal Service Bus is petty in comparison to that offered by DDR2 (or higher) type memory.

Overclock!

Overclock till you burn the motherforgeter down!

I spent like two hours overclocking my CPU from 3.0 to 3.15. Not worth it :(

RAM, on the other hand, Im scared to overclock.
