this is entirely unrelated but at the same time related. here goes:
i've been thinking along these lines lately. not so much about a purpose in life, but just life in general. reading this thread really puts life into perspective, and after realizing how miniscule and meaningless everything is, i feel like i can do anything. i lose all my fears, and all worries.
no, seriously, try it sometime. i've been using these thoughts to my advantage, and life's been getting better. for example, if you're presenting a speech infront of the class and you're nervous or something, just think about all the things that were uhh, touched upon in this thread. OP especially. reading that stuff helps you to realize that nothing really matters, and any worst-case scenario is never as bad as you first think. sounds silly, but it works wonders.
yeah and i know this has almost nothing to do with the topic at hand but it's something i've been dying to uhh, share, i guess.
it's basically like taking 'fight club' and applying it to real life. with or without the fighting.
Narrator: [Tyler steers the car into the opposite lane and accelerates] What are you doing?
Tyler Durden: Guys, what would you wish you'd done before you died?
Steph: Paint a self-portrait.
The Mechanic: Build a house.
Tyler Durden: [to Narrator] And you?
Narrator: I don't know. Turn the wheel now, come on!
Tyler Durden: You have to know the answer to this question! If you died right now, how would you feel about your life?
Narrator: I don't know, I wouldn't feel anything good about my life, is that what you want to hear me say? Fine. Come on!
Tyler Durden: Not good enough.
and especially
Tyler Durden: Tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of Raymond K. Hessel's life. His breakfast will taste better than any meal you and I have ever tasted.
