The excess of yellow makes it look weird.
Ships are not always just the generic brown. Actually alot of old ships like this had fancy decorations on the sides and paintings and decals. Mostly the Spanish did because they were rich and powerful back then and having fancy ships with decorations and color was a way of showing that off so says my history teacher.
