Build Competition
A Competition to rebuild/recreate the LMS Explorer from Rock Raiders.

Competition Rules:
First and foremost, you don't have to rebuild exactly the same ship, you can do your own design of a new LMS Explorer, who knows we might even rename it.

  • Your Star Ship MUST be very large, it has to be large enough to look like it can carry 100's of vehicles & structures.
  • You must build on Slate, other maps will cause future problems for us.
  • I'm looking for ship with nice detail but not over the top detail, don't make parts of the ship repetitive.
  • All entry's must have at least 5-7 images of all sides of the ship, Front Bottom side etcetera, a money shot is also nice. Please post in this thread with thumbnails not the full size images.
  • Interior (Insides) are not required but would bit a nice Bonus Detail, more likely then not it will not count.
  • You do not have to post your build saves until asked, which you would send it via a PM.
  • Please don't repost one of your previous builds as an entry, I don't want them.
  • You can have a maximum of 4 people working on your build, they have to do quite a lot to be counted towards the build.

If you fail to comply with these rules you'll loose scoring for the final decision.

Competition will end in around a month, if I find a ship that meets the standards I wanted, then the competition will likely end unless there are applicants who's builds are nearly finished.

Position Rewards:
1st Place - The 1st place Winner's LMS Explorer/Star Ship will be used in Rock Raiders Mod, 1st will also have a definite beta invite (Possibly access to developing beta) and of course bragging rights.
2nd Place - Beta invite, 2nd will have a definite position in private beta.

Do I win something? Btw I've already started building...

Working on it now... Does this mean that the mod is getting closer to completion? I remember when you started with the idea 3 years ago... Good times, good times...

EDIT: Is there an RRM color set that I could use? It'd be very helpful.

I'm going to be throwing out updates like hotcakes.

I think packer released a Lego color set, check RTB or his previous posts.

This is up to date.

Does the build have to be a solo job, and if not how are the winnings split? Also when you say slate can it be built on a slate edit?

Does it really matter when you think about it?

as long as it saves to slate it shouldn't make a difference

Does it really matter when you think about it?
Maybe is more used to building in different lighting?

Questions:

What exactly will be the role of the build?

Would it be possible to build it at a miniature scale? (this largely is effected by the first answer....)

First build will be used for.. visuals, I rather not spoil it. You can build on any slate it doesn't matter, as long as its able to load on every other slate. If you want to do a group build that is fine with me but make sure you equally credit it, however I'm not going to let everyone who put a single brick in the winners position. I'd say about 3-4 max per build.
