While reading through the forums and changelog, I've noticed some very useful features in that list, being removed.

  • Client and player targets removed from OnRespawn input event
    I could think of many good things this could make, however people making infinite loops with these ruined that.
    Especially now with the whole physics idea in mind.
  • InstantRespawn event removed. There were several methods which could be used to get the player stuck in infinite respawn loops.
    I was actually using InstantRespawn in one of my minigame builds. Once the user completes the level, it used InstantRespawn to place them back at the spawn. Now that's gone due to abuse.
  • SetShapeName on player objects is now obfuscated
    Bots can no longer be given shapenames, and no more [Team 1/2/Solo] for Minigame++, infact, Minigame++ was put into the bad add-ons list because it used such functioning. We can blame the people who abuse shapenames for impersonation.
  • Player list related clientCmd's are now obfuscated to prevent user tampering
    I'm not exactly sure what he changed in this, however I assume we cannot add bots to the player list.
Aside from all those losses, there are many useful bugfixes, along with some neat features and updates. I thank Badspot and kompressor for working hard on this game, and I know what you did was right. It's not your fault, it's the people who abuse such things who take these priviledges away from us.

but i don't care about the bots not being on the player list thing, really. that's just a heap of useless to me, unless you're intent on making it look like badspot's on your server when he's not

I have to agree, taking out componets that have been abused means the abusers win.  They have brought the game down to a lower level not because of their abuse, but because the reaction to the abuse is to take those features out.

People should stop whining about abuse and actually admin their servers.

I don't see why everyone's crying. Bots don't need names. Otherwise the features are pointless.

bis i'm pretty certain that despite the fact the game is about building with blocks and making giant fantastic structures, then blowing them up with random superweapons

People should stop whining about abuse and actually admin their servers.
It's usually the hosts who do these things, as they are the ones who have access to the console. Normal players cannot do findclientByName("namehere").player.setshapename("Badspot"); unless the host gives them access to do so.

They have use, Marcem.  I'm pretty sure set default minigame and stuff were disabled for the last one, not sure though.  But names are also useful for teams.
