Probably because all of the abusers that kept spamming the bricks and ruining the servers.

The on brick respawn and the set player name thing ruined my favorite little event contraption.

Changes you name, and fake kills the brick. When it returns, it does the same thing, but with a different name. Abuse! Very nice looking abuse, but still.

Still, I think that removing abused functions means the abusers win, and we don't want that do we?

no they don't win, because they can no longer do it. dipstuff
if they planned from the beginning to have the events altered by force then yes they won. but that's not the case

it wouldn't even be an issue if the general players weren't stupid enough to allow the abuse in their servers, and badspot didn't have to step in and help

Most of the abuse is from hosts and other users who are granted access to eval, in which the host allows it.

I am still a bit annoyed at the setShapeName one. A no-name-minigame option would be really nice, as a lot of DMs are ruined by having names pop out at you.

The whole reason why abusers abuse functions is to ruin the game. If the developer has to take out a great feature in order to prevent abuse, the game is ruined, and the abusers have accomplished their goal. If you still want to show off your complete lack of common sense, go ahead.

That said, taking out setshapename does not ruin the game, it's just a minor, okay, halfway-major annoyance.

The amount of douchebaggery was pretty bad, to the point that if I could have gotten my loving router to cooperate I would've definitely disabled all brick events on my own server.

I had noticed that too. I checked, and still have the instantRespawn event.
