He wasn't trying to instate a new religious government, he was attempting to overthrow the tyrannical government that was suppressing his religion. I may be misinformed, however, in which case I only favor the idea.

Eh, none of the countries in Europe during that time were all on the freedom of religion thing.  He had his catholic buddies waiting in the wings to set up the new government/religion after the parliament blew up.  They were betting on catholic france coming in with an army a couple months afterwards.

Frankly, if you live in a country that suppresses your religion, and you're not willing to convert to their religion, what are you doing in that country?  Overthrowing them only creates more problems, you just move somewhere else.  I mean, look at the USA.  They're over there trying to accommodate every single person's religion, and all that happens is the inevitable power struggle, where the people who can bring religion into other areas of knowledge to "support" their religion win.

Take, for instances, atheists and science.  Science in america is so politically freakin correct down there now that no knowledge in any field is being gained if anyone cares for their job.  Whatever supports the winning side of the religious debates gets the grant money and popularity.  Hormesis, ignored.  Catastrophism, ignored.  Nuclear power, ignored.

It's really all screwed up down there.  Good example of what happens when people try to please everybody.

Now, back on topic everyone.   This is not the political debate thread.

Then I disagree with the intentions, but see him as more of an idol for the spirit of resistance, I suppose.

You know Duckmeister is intelligent because he can talk about watered-down science textbooks and puts two spaces after his period. It's almost like he's a professional typist or something.

forget, you are a huge grammar national socialist.

grammar national socialist.
I don't see where he was trying to do that; he was just pointing something out.

oh, I'm just an ass hat :3

Yeah, my point was this is a forum. The two spaces after a period thing is syntax for professional typists. All he is trying to do is sound smarter than he really is by talking about hot-topic issues and mimic-ing the style of a real typographer.

Welcome back yuki! <3

I'm sorry but you don't know that Nuclear power is a hot commodity now. Especially now with new legislation against CO2 output on coal plants. Oh and it's way more efficient than Wind power, plus it doesn't need to be subsidized in order for people to actually make them.
