It sounds like you're computer is rejecting your setup. Quite possibly a virus.

By the way, the power button doesn't work when the PC is running.

Check the CMOS battery, make sure it's good. If not, reset the BIOS (there should be instructions with your motherboard that will tell you how to do this)

Not if the motherboard is causing the processor to fry.
