Author Topic: What a Horrible World  (Read 5404 times)

I was basically stating that everyone who complains about stuff needs to realize one of two things: One, there are greater injustices in the world. Two, most of the reason people don't accept them is because they don't put forth effort to respect others and themselves.
Well wern't you complaining about people complaining? Not targeting but just saying.

Now to follow with you on this one, let me add this:
human nature seems to involve noticing mostly the bad things in life, complaining about what they dont have and glorifying what they want until they have it. It's a fact of life; not letting people complain is like trying to make a cat bark: it rarely happens.

And something I didn't really work into the first preachy. Have you ever gone outside? Take a hike through the Rockies sometime. This is a beautiful world, and whether or not you choose to believe in intelligent design, something I've thought about and decided to accept, you have to admit that this is a planet of shocking beauty.
Yes i have gone outside, dont target the arguer when doing these types of things; focus on the arguments themselves. Might i add that the outdoors is a wonderful place and i fully appreciate its beauty and recognize the creator of this thread's idea:
people tend to stuff up the world
hint though: next time try to use a song that is also originally negative; or better yet, create your own!

Hmm, I can only assume you've had some kind of forensic experience. You talk like you know what you're saying when you speak about such things.

I will admit this, I didn't read his edit first post, whatever, I'm tired. Everyone kept saying 'emo', which are a brand of people that tend to piss me off, so I went on my rant about them.

It is kind of saddening that this is how people work, and I would say that I was complaining. From my (humble) point of view, I was merely sitting on the sidelines watching everyone get everything wrong and make fools of themselves, and point out what I see.

See how I slipped the (humble) in there?

yeah im not saying youre a bad person for complaining about people complaining, its just human error, i do it as does everyone else.

well thats very flattering, but actually im only in 9th grade
might i say that youre a lot smarter than most of the other 14 year olds i know!

You just might say that. I try to be introspective and reflective on the current world climate when I'm by myself or have time to think, but when I'm around my friends I'm just as stupid and crazy as a lot of the people my age.

ah as do i, and we totally derailed this topic eh?

Yeah, getting back on topic.

I actually read the first post and don't think it's really conducive to the 'emo' characteristic, and doesn't exactly merit all the criticisms that have been cast on the dude. While it is a real song and he did destroy certain parts of it, it does, show light? I guess, I can't think of a better expression. It shows light of the aforementioned fact that there is terrible stuff that goes on in this world.

And this I can tolerate, to a certain extent. War is a terrible thing, and I guess what he wrote kind of makes you think about that. People can do some horrid stuff, and this edit of 'Wonderful World' kind of illustrates that.

Now, it could've been done better, that's for sure. I think the original and this guy's edit don't strike the exact chord. One doesn't illustrate that bad things, and therefore is optimistic, and one doesn't illustrate the good, and therefore is pessimistic.

I challenge the OP to write something that balances both elements of shocking beauty and genuine goodness and the terrible injustices that happen on the same planet.

negotiations and strong trade after masses of war and killing
(the relationship between japan and the US)

this could probably made into a weird al song, but it's a wee bit too...dark for me.
but,as the (emo version of)Heavy would say,
YOU DID WELL!

Duck you and your emo song.

He is NOT emo, he's just kidding! I'm surprised you havent figured it out yet.

i believe he was totally serious; i dont see any lols or rofls in the original post.
also i agree that its not emo, since we already established what he is truly doing a few posts back.

;д; why did you do that to that song?

I wonder what was going through your head when you were posting this...

'Omg, I am gonna be so cool. Yuki will stop calling me a n00b. The forums will stop rejecting me. I'll be famous. Badspot will even praise me.'

(Record shatters) *Rawrararwarrawr* You loving emo!

It saddens me to see people living in basically the most privileged, rich countries in the world and they can still find something to complain about. I find a lot of the times people complain about 'society' and 'the man' and how it hates people like them, I find that they really have no reason to complain. They're just lazy, in a way. If you want society to accept you as an individual, that can be done without conforming.
My faith is radical in the way that it calls of me to live without certain indulgences of the world like hate and being self-centered. While our society seems to love these practices, that does not mean that I have to conform to them to fit in.
Why I am not wholly rejected is a matter of respect, I think. I would not be abandoning my beliefs if I lived by myself, and I'm not abandoning my beliefs because I respect what others are trying to do.
It's a matter of respect, of the Golden Rule. The second part of the greatest commandment (the first being love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind) is love your neighbor as yourself. Despite the fact that your neighbor might hate you. It's matter of showing love to your enemies. Doing without 'an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth'. It's more of a, 'when your enemy hits your left cheek, present him with your right.'
Back on topic, the reason people that feel the need to complain about their country and society in general is that they don't put enough energy forth to present themselves well, have a positive attitude and respect others. It's kind of convoluted that people think they are so entitled that people are going to show them respect with nothing put out from them.
So, even though their are some terrible terrible thing going on in this world, that doesn't mean that everything is happening to you. Someone called you a name? Somebody's son probably just died from malnutrition. Or AIDS. Or a bomb shell.
And what's even more shocking is the fact that people seem to think that not fitting into society is the norm. It's just something people do. I really fear for this generation (I don't know if it's hypocritical- seeing as I'm 14). But really- consumerism seems to encourage people to try to get as far away from society as possible, and encourages the behavior. But where does that get us?

Okay, that's my speech, rant, whatever. I'm 14, Christian, and a Social Conservative if you haven't picked it up.

I didn't read anything past this.

I love you.

This man speaks the truth. Humans are, in mass, loving idiots who can't stop throwing stones at the guys across the way. And by stones, I mean bombs. and by the way, I mean everywhere.
morshu:bomb!
