There's rules for that as well:

Unfinished houses:
they stay for 24 hours, then we'll delete them if they don't look promosing.
They WILL be removed tho if we detect spam.
The builder can come back at any time within these 24 hours and continue, we'll notice that - and hopefully let your build stay.
Everything has to do with how many redspots there are avaliable at the moments as well.

Finished houses:
They stay if they look like houses.
They will be removed if we detect spam.
If they're very nice, we'll let the builder chose another spot, or a blue spot.

what happens if you come back but the server is not up, or your grandma died and you were too depressed to play for a while, you should change the time to about 3 days, in my opinion...

The truth is that I'll probably be afk from the game for a couple of months very very soon. This could be my last day infront of the PC for a while - I will host as often as I can - But it's a very time demaning job - and I don't have the possibilities to make a dedicated server. I also had this server running for almost one week in a row, with me constantly beeing online and giving out lots,  without anyone even saying "thank you for beeing here" :P

I actually (actually) have a life outside blockland as well, and my girlfriend and I are about to move very soon - So I'll probably be very inactive. Many people told me to make a dedicated server, but It's not possible - There would be absolute chaos - and there's no way yet to make automated lots. It would be to time consuming. I'm sorry guys, but today and tomorrow may be the last time you'll see the server up, and me online - for a very long time :/
