Brick Printing?

Could someone give me a breakdown on what all the numbers mean for a print brick? I'm trying to make a print brick that could be like 2x1, 3x1, 4x1, etc. that you can print a string longer than one character to. Would this even be possible?

Anyways, I've created a brick that is 2x2x1 but has a really wide character printed on it.

I don't think it's possible. You can have the same character appear on more than one face (e.g. a four-sided print brick) but you can't put multiple ones on the same brick. If you need to display more than one character, wouldn't it be simpler to just create four 1x1 prints possibly supported by a 1xN plate underneath?
