If the Government banned games, millions if not billions of dollars (Or whatever currency is used in the region where this is taking place) would be wasted on collecting all games and game paraphernalia including all game consoles, games, portable devices, computers, cell phones, and calculators with basic game playing functionality.
Just the collection process would be a long, arduous task that no one would would to perform, and the economic state of this region would decline drastically. Millions of jobs would be lost. Not only those of game developers but anyone who works with games such as the employees of Gamestop or EB (Do they even exist anymore?).
Almost all electronics would be obsolete as the government wouldn't allow anything that could be made to play a game.
But then! Where would all of these electronics be stored? We'd have to dispose of them somehow. Don't ask me.
Also, what would life be like after this? No games? Everyone will start playing sports. Nerds will become physically fit and enraged at the loss of their games, try to overthrow their government. They will most likely fail and cause a mass imprisonment or civil war.
