The emote script caused too many problems because people kept putting 500kb png files in it. On top of that the images spread virally - you would auto download them when you joined a server, then the next time you hosted a server you force people who joined your server to download those new images.
The legend spells had tons of problems and used like 500 datablocks for no good reason.
