Are you really wanting to go with a bad company(dell)

Dell isn't a bad company, they just aren't for gaming.

Great for everything else however.

ok then anyone recommend a gaming computer company?

plus i would like to make my own computer, but i doubt my dad would let me, even if he helped.

Just go out and get the best pre-built computer on newegg.com.
Have your dad look it over and make sure it's good.

newegg...got it.
But let me tell you, you're really missing out.
Putting together your own computer is absolutely awesome.
It would probably be cheaper, too.

ok, can you tell me the best pieces for building a computer, then i'll tell my dad that i would like to build  my computer with his help, and that it would cost less than buying a pre-built computer.

plus, please add links to the stuff.

Putting together your own PC is annoying as all forget. Tiny parts, annoying standards, millions of cables, constant danger of breaking a part, connecting parts incorrectly, powering it up for the first time, realizing you didn't hook up the power, reinstalling the OS, overclocking, hooking all your cables to the back.

So loving tedious and annoying. And that's why I love it.

ok i think i'll just settle for a prebuilt...

I wouldn't suggest building your own computer from scratch, without knowing anything, you will probably mess something up. And if your dad is anything like mine, he won't want you breaking something he paid 400$ for. So buy a pre-built computer, from a non-overpriced company. In time you will want to replace the graphics card, maybe add some RAM. At that time you might ask your dad to help you, and he probably will. And then you will begin to understand what parts are what.

By the way, I still think your current computer is fine and its way too early to be thinking about a new one especially because your dad just bought you one for Christmas.

Not funny. I would really appreciate it, if you would get out.

realizing you didn't hook up the power

It took me 2 hours to find out that I didn't plug the case power button on the right part of the motherboard.  :cookieMonster:

could anyone tell me how to do this stuff?

If you want a better computer, just update RAM to 2 Gb, update to a extremely high performance graphics card, get a 1TB harddrive, and have a lazer mouse connected.
Extreme gaming computer

I wouldn't listen to computer advice from the majority of this forum.

I would be wary about any advice on a long term investment like a computer or something of high value.
