Ok I found an old computer HD, I want to connect it to my laptop via USB, my brother said theres an adapter you can get for it to do that. Could someone tell me where I could find that. Ill post some pics of it later, my cameras dead. Im not sure how big it is.

Doesn't sounds like a piece of hardware that can easily be found in the big chain stores, sounds like something you'll need to order.

http://www.newegg.com/ maybe?

Is usb even fast enough? I know sata is faster then usb, but whatever the older hd's whatever# pin connectors I wouldn't know.
Its the reason I won't use external harddrives for more then just storage.
I require speed when I run apps and games, and usb is to slow.

I run games on my external with no noticeable lag. Try enabling files caches.

I run Blockland, Red Alert 3 and WoW all on my 80 GB USB HDD.

My friend has an external hard drive casing that you can unscrew and place an IDE hard drive into. And, yes, USB 2.0 is fast enough.

Im just gonna use it for storage and such. Not to run, I found out it has 8Gigs storage space.

Then it's ancient.

Some external HDDs are obviously hard drives on the inside, but use a small, small SATA cable to transfer from the HDD to the USB cable and into your computer.

My laptop has some e-Sata port.
Is e-Sata faster than USB?

You can get an 8 GB flashdrive for under $20 now. No need to spend extra time, money and hassle on trying to resurrect an old drive.

If it's not that expensive and has more memory, why not?

It has some of my old stuff on it, thats why I want it.
