Author Topic: Dumbasses locking Topics  (Read 1662 times)

You idiots should stop locking topics when you think they're not needed anymore. Especially in the coding help and help forums. If people want to ask a similar question it makes sense for them to post in your topic because it has all the prior information on it, instead of just making a new one. Furthermore sometimes you idiots post "ok solved with this code:" in the end of your coding help topic then lock it, and the code is wrong and nobody can point it out until you try it, forget up your game and then come crying back here to start a new topic.

Just don't.

I'll admit I did lock my own topics a few times, once recently so I might not be one to say this, but it is rather annoying when others do it when it's a topic of major interest and when they finally "solve" the mystery all they say is "Solved, locked". So the topic ultimately becomes more then useless to everyone else.

Holy stuff I agree!
This.
Huh?

I dont lock my topics. I'm a good boy!

Whenever I lock a Help topic of mine, I ALWAYS post how I fixed that particular problem. Time and time again I've gone through millions of threads using search looking for an answer, and they all either A. Never fix the problem or B. Lock it because they fixed it without saying how.

I locked my thread about the save problem I had with one of my builds after it was resolved and I had a recent save that Hugums gave me. That kind of thread however, sticks out as not important after being resolved (probably because it was unique).

"Hey anyone wanna help me fix the cure to cancer I have here?"
"Oh nevermind I solved it, locking."

I hate computer help threads on some tech forums that do that. forget me if I have one problem that another guy had, but he decided to clean up the post and say "Welp I fixed it! Bye!".

This thread has now become a name and shame thread.

M - Why would you lock this? What if someone had a better solution to what Space Guy posted? There is no reason to lock those threads.

Some people dont use the search button. I personally don't because it sucks. And I have going through 500 pages of things trying to see if theres a topic out there, then I find it. I say thanks. I realise its from 2005. I stuff myself. I get banned. Basicly, its easier to make a new topic. And why should it bother you, seriously? Its nothing...

Basically what you've said here is that you're too handicapped to check the date on a thread before you post, and because of that everyone should be unable to reply to old threads. Luckily for you most of the people on this forum are as handicapped as you so if you try to reply to an old thread, it won't let you.

I have listed my reasoning in the first post, maybe you should go read it again. I know you're totally handicapped but if you want to participate in the big boys discussions you're going to have to learn to read.

I usually close it when it's totally solved and it's apparent no one else has had the problem :/

So, guess you're forced to leave drama topics open :)

In the Help topics I make, if I solve it, I post a solution which I make sure that works at the bottom of the page.
