I like your Idea of remaking, but please, try to make it real.
For example: The place where the portal comes is like crap (if I may say that), just put some ramps around it to make it rounder.

You are all handicaps, you are not cool when you say the cake is a lie, because it just isn't, ok?  On your next birthday party, tell me if there is cake, and tell me if it's a lie or not.  you will say that it was a truth because it was most likely very delicious.  If you say it's a lie, than you just didn't get a cake because of some reason.
