Yes, it is possible if you turn it off, you get none of the weapons and projectiles if you turn it on, you DO get the weapons and projectiles

While Badspot was in my Team Deathmatch: Siege server few weeks or so ago, he mentioned this. You can disable models downloading like you would for sounds: you'll just get a default model instead.

I have no proof of this being said to hand, but that is what I am saying happened.
